How to play Molario.io
Molario.io is a free multiplayer territory game you play in your browser. Every player is a little dental creation (a molar, a crown, an implant…) racing to claim the biggest part of the build plate.
The goal
The playing field is a 3D printer's build plate. You start on a small patch of your own colour, called your model. Grow your model by leaving it, drawing a loop on the plate, and coming back. Everything inside the loop becomes yours. The leaderboard shows each lab's share of the plate: try to reach the top without getting knocked out.
Controls
🖱 Mouse
Your character steers toward the mouse pointer. Move the pointer around your character to turn.
⌨️ Keyboard
Use W A S D or the arrow keys. Press two keys together to move diagonally. While a key is held, the mouse is ignored.
📱 Touch
Swipe anywhere on the screen. A small joystick appears where your finger lands; the direction of your swipe sets your heading, and it stays after you lift your finger.
The rules
1. Draw a margin line
As soon as you leave your model, you leave a trail behind you: your margin line. While you're outside, that line is your weak spot.
2. Close it to claim the area
Ride back into your own model to close the line. The line itself and everything it surrounds is added to your model, including pieces of other players' territory.
3. Cut other lines, protect your own
If another player touches your margin line before you close it, you're knocked out. The same works the other way: cross a rival's line to knock them out. You're also out if you cross your own line, drive off the edge of the build plate, or lose your whole model because someone surrounded it.
4. Head-on bumps
When two players meet head-on, the one standing on their own territory wins. If neither is at home, the bigger lab wins.
Dashes
Every time you knock someone out, you get a dash: three seconds at 1.6× speed to grab extra ground. Kills during a dash add more time, up to six seconds. The dash meter under your score shows how much is left.
Power-ups
Round pickups appear on open parts of the plate. Drive over one to use it straight away.
⚡ Turbine
Named after the dentist's high-speed handpiece: a four-second speed boost.
🛡 Fluoride shield
For six seconds your margin line can't be cut, so you can take a bigger loop safely.
💡 UV cure
Like a curing lamp hardening resin, it instantly turns a circle around you into territory and closes your open line.
💉 Anesthetic
Numbs nearby rivals: everyone close to you slows down for a few seconds.
Skins
Pick one of six animated characters on the start screen. They all play the same; it's purely your style.
- Molar: a back tooth that waddles on its roots.
- Crown: a gold cap that hops along with a shine.
- Implant: a titanium screw that drills forward.
- Night guard: a clear bite splint that chomps as it moves.
- Custom tray: an impression tray with a handle.
- Brush: a toothbrush that scrubs and leaves foam bubbles.
Every player in a game has a different colour, so you can always tell labs apart.
Game modes
Public games
Press Play and you join a random public game that has room. Public games are endless and hold ten players. Computer players fill the empty spots and step aside when people join.
Private games with friends
Choose Create private game to set the number of players (2–12), an optional win target (for example: the first lab to reach 20% of the plate wins the round), and whether power-ups are on. You get a five-character code and an invite link to send to friends; they can also type the code under Join with code. Spots your friends don't fill are played by computer players. Private games have no ads.
Servers
Molario.io has servers in Europe (Frankfurt) and the United States (Oregon). The game picks one based on your time zone; choose Change on the start screen to see the live ping and player count of each server and switch.
Tips and strategy
- Start small. Short loops close quickly and leave less margin line exposed.
- Watch the others before you leave. If a rival is close, wait inside your model until they move away.
- Close along your own border. Loops that start and end close together are the fastest way home.
- Grab power-ups on your way out, not in the middle of a long loop.
- Use a fluoride shield for your biggest loop: six seconds of safety is a lot of ground.
- Hunt long lines. A rival far from home with a long line is an easy knockout, and the dash afterwards helps you claim more.
- Don't turn too sharply on your own line. Crossing it ends your run.
- Keep an eye on the minimap in the bottom-right corner to spot empty areas and big rivals.
- Surround smaller labs. Enclosing someone's whole model knocks them out.
- After a knockout, go home first. Your score only grows once a loop is closed.
